Valuing Service to the Community • In September 2011, the Colorado Board of Higher Education cited Tax Help Colorado as an “Academic Program of Excellence” at MCC. The program experienced a 10% increase in participation this year, assisting four-hundred low-income taxpayers who received almost $700,000 in refunds. • The Community Garden is a working partnership between MCC, the City of Fort Morgan, CSU Extension Office, Morgan County Family Center, and other community volunteers, providing fresh produce, education, and scholarship funding for our community. • The Workplace Education program partnership with Cargill continues to see growth and has seen an increase in its advancement rate by approximately 30 percent. Together with a focus on attendance, the number of students completing educational levels has been attributed to advanced technology. Testing by computer has shown to be more effective, allowing students to test not only sooner, but more often. • The Center for Arts and Community Enrichment (CACE) has brought guest speakers, poets, musicians, theatrical productions, photographers, artists and student artwork to the community. CACE sponsored 23 events this year.
